About 13lif

Hello there.. Welcome to my blog.
My name is Lif,  and I am a paediatric surgeon, who loves home making, and beauty, kitchen & DIY enthusiast. I live in Bintaro, a small city in Jakarta outskirt. Oh, and 13 is my lucky number.

ABOUT THIS BLOG
Since 2013, I tried blogging on and off. Somehow, I stretched myself thin between hospitals and I could not write regularly. I made this blog as a "therapy" for me: I need to decompress myself after surgical service at operating theatre/ICU/clinics.
I was born from an artistic family,  I guess I am the least creative breed.. I am not very good on communicative writing as well as photography, so.. I guess this blog is kind of filled with goofie selfie and pics. Hey, at least I try!

ON KITCHEN & HEALTH
I was raised by stay at home grandparents. I always enjoy home cooked meal, move around on my small city, and had a healthy life. But since my college years and surgical training, I feel disconnected  with home-values. I live off whatever, and my main dish was instant food and I called warung food as normal food. I did not even know what I put on my mouth, and I did not even actually enjoy it. Pounds has piled on me because of this, and I need to recast my lifestyle. Now, I try to make home cooked meals, and I decide that I eat to nourish my body instead of punishing it with junks.

A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT MY BEAUTY POSTS
  • I am no dermatologist, and my review and writing here is based on  readings, searching, trying stuffs here and there. Not from dermatology training.
  • Studies about certain products usually tells certain effects on something (be it animal lab, human, hormone disruption etc) does not always affect policy. If the research is done  massively, or highly systematic or the result is giving serious impact, then usually it will change a nation's policy on certain products.
  • Unless stated otherwise, I create graphics here by myself and copying pictures from cosmetics official website.
  • Comments and discussion are encouraged. I really appreciate this.
  • Here are websites that I usually trust as my source:
    • fda.gov
    • ewg.org --> some of their review are good, and I think some of research is misinterpreted by ewg. But it's still a good source nonetheless.
    • smartskincare.com
    • aad.org
    • cosdna
    • dailymed.nlm.nih.gov

 Until later,

Lif, your friendly ped-surgeon/coffee addict/self proclaimed beauty blogger/
